How To Make A Joule Thief To Use Dead AA Batteries

in science •  7 years ago

With this simple device you can use AA and AAA batteries down to 0.3 volts which is way below the point where these batteries are normally considered dead.

A Joule Thief can keep an LED going for days, weeks or months on a single dead AA or AAA battery. This is also something you can make at home for free in minutes using recycled electronics.

I got most of my parts out of a dead old television for this project. All you need is a toroid form, some wire and a couple electronics components.

This is useful for long lasting emergency lighting or in a survival situation when most of your batteries are too weak to power a flashlight.

You can also use the Joule Thief to power an LED with the Earth Battery I have previously discussed.

There are many exciting uses for such a circuit.

What is the oscillation frequency of this circuit?

I did not measure it. Since I used recycled components and dont every know anything about the coil I used, unless I measure it with a scope, I dont know.

I wanted to know about the operation and how to adjust the frequency.

It is not necessary to adjust the frequency. Its a very basic circuit. You can make it using scrap parts. That is the cool part of it.

Certain frequencies cause people to ''zone out' and even pass out into epileptic seizure so should be avoided with lights. I don't have a coil and would need a part number and more specs to order one. To me there is too much info missing to construct this circuit.

Why did you flag jackhoffmann post that at least had a schematic of the circuit whereas you did NOT show one. Your directions were so poorly done that no one could follow or construct anything. A schematic is mandatory and shows how everything is connected. Your blog post is a total failure. You are electronics FRAUD with NO CREDENTIALS.

Oh look, I did have schematics here: http://www.thedoityourselfworld.com/articles/article.php?id=11461

Hmm, you must have missed that huh

Well then just leave and find something else that entertains you.

Thank you for your opinion.

Bye now.

As to credentials, well, lets just say its no use arguing with a common troll.

Bye now.

OMG, so trog didn't invent this? Another lie by deception

No lie. This technology has been around a long time. Last I checked, it was perfectly legal to make one for demonstration purposes.

you don't get much traffic on this- your second channel. Why didn't you mention it to me and I would have been here from day one. Is Ming LIng OK with trying to make ends meet when you spend 10 to 12 hours a day on steemit for 50 cents a day? Kinda makes her do all the heavy work on the homestead since you also have to take your naps and stay sick most of the time.

This channel is about electronics. Your comments have nothing at all to do with electronics.
