Methylobacterium – Research Links Bacterial Imbalances to Breast Cancer

in science •  7 years ago  (edited)

Methylobacterium

A research team at Cleveland Clinic recently discovered that the concentration of the bacterium Methylobacterium in healthy breast tissue is higher than in breast cancer tissue.

Microbiome is a term referring to the bacteria living in the body, and it affects many disease states.

By revealing distinct microbial differences in healthy and cancerous breast tissue, this research constitutes the first step toward understanding the composition of bacteria in breast cancer.
