<In the modern day world, we have an unlimited availability of technology. We have made such technological advances that are machines are actually taking our jobs in factories – however, that’s not what we are talking about today.

<All of the technology we have has to communicate and connect in some way. Each device gives out electrical signals and impulses that are transferred to other devices. We haven’t quite gotten a grasp of the effects of these radio frequencies and signals until now. NASA has discovered that these communication signals have created a virtual protective bubble around the earth.

<The frequencies that are given off by our cellular phones are actually called very low frequencies, or VLF radio communications. The VLF radio communications interact with particles in space. This affects how the particles move and react, thus, creating a barrier around the earth. The barrier created by the VLF radio communications protects us from natural high energy particle radiation in space. The barrier can even be seen from space, as it was shot by NASA’s Van Allen Probes.

“A number of experiments and observations have figured out that, under the right conditions, radio communications signals in the VLF frequency range can, in fact, affect the properties of the high-energy radiation environment around the Earth,” said Phil Erickson, assistant director of the MIT Haystack Observatory, Westford, Massachusetts. They are transmitted from ground stations at huge powers to communicate with submarines below the ocean’s surface. The bubble was first spotted by the aircraft Van Allen Probes, which studies electrons and ions in the near earth environment.

<The bubble discovery comes from a robotic mission launched in 2012. They launched the mission to study the Van Allen Radiation belts. The data they received showed that the if there were no VLF transmissions, the radiation belts would have extended into our atmosphere. So, we essentially saved our own lives. Maybe technology isn’t so bad after all.
