According to this article, Edward Snowden, the NSA whistle-blower, has developed an app Haven, which uses a device's sensors, such as, mic, camera and accelerometer to take photos of unexpected guests and unwanted intruders, and send alerts in those cases.
If for example, an evil maid is trying to steal your laptop in a hotel, this app could take photos of her and send an alert. The alerts can be sent via SMS, Signal or to a Tor-based website.
It's already getting a decent response from the community on the Google Play store.
