A group of scientists has made an application where you can be the first person to discover a new planet and it is free to use!
You can tell if a planet is floating around a star by the strength of the light from the star. If the strength of the light weakens from a star often times that means that a planet is obstructing the stars ability to shine light in what ever given direction the planet is blocking when it orbits the star.
The chart above shows the dots of light strength and when the dots begain to lower on the chart over time that means a planet has passed infront of the star. As you can see the lights strength goes down.
By highlighting that information on the graph you are alerting the planet hunters that you see a pattern and a planet is probably passing by a star. The Graphs handed out are random and when you have finished your analysis they go to the planet hunter team to study further. If a planet if discovered you then get credit for your find!
Give it a try! It's free!
