Have you ever wondered what would happen if the Sun diasppeared all of a sudden.?? Well in short, it will be the end of mankind but what will be the series of events taking place after the disappearance of the Sun?? We will get to know about it in this article. So keep on reading.

We know that light takes 8 minutes to reach Earth from the Sun. So it will not be an instantaneous black out but it would take 8 minutes for us to know that the Sun has disappeared. Disappearance of Sun also means the disappearance of a huge amount of gravitational force. Gravity on Earth will be largely affected. The Sun acts as an anchor point of the solar system. It holds the planets in their orbits and helps in their revolution. However, it will again take 8 minutes for us to feel the change in gravity. It is because, according to Einstein's theory of relativity, gravity travels at the same speed as of light.

Now when there is no Sunlight, the process of photosynthesis will stop. However, this will result in the death of only some plants while many big trees can live for some years without sunlight. The composition of oxygen will thereby be altered by the loss of our plants. The temperature will begin to drop, since there would be no heat from sun. Humans will start to die and the ocean cover will start to freeze. However, by then, the atmosphere will collapse giving way for radiation to seep in. The Earth will turn into a wasteland floating around in the space. Fortunately, the Sun is not showing any signs of disappearance. So we don't need to worry about it. But it is good to know about the consequences.
