Hey guys!
As an engineer I am always excited about innovations and new scientific reports. Today I would like to introduce you a couple of things which I followed in the last few months.
Number 5: Wifi charging
Yes, it is possible to charge devices with a wifi signal. Yet it is not capable to charge a smartphone but the scientists could charge a small camera within a distance of around 20 feet from a router, so it can take one picture every 35 minutes. This is what the scientists can do right now, let's see where this will bring us! There are quite a few other technologies which work on transferring energy without a cable. I follow researchers who are trying to transfer energy via ultrasonic, I think in a couple of years our devices can be charged no matter if we have took the cable with us or not. :) That's just some crazy talk from me!
Number 4: Eternal 5D data storage
Scientists have made a major step forward in the development of digital data storage. The technology allows us to save data for a really long time. The data is recorded by an ultrafast laser, producing extremely short and intense pulses of light. The data can be read by the change of how light travels through the glass.
Number 3: Quantum Computing
There is limitless potential in this innovation but it is still extremely early stage and each step is a huge innovation itself.
Quantum computing makes it possible that a computer doesn't only have the option between 0 or 1 it adds the possibility of adding the status "0 and 1". This new "bit" is called "qubit". So what is so great about it? -> "A thousand qubit computer can be in 2 to the 1000 states at one time, which is 10 to the 300th power". A normal processor works with simple transistor which are limited by the size of an atom. In the next few years we will reach this limit and then we have to find another solution to solve world's most difficult equations or simulations to get the human race a step further. This year scientists were able to achieve a quantum logic gate with record breaking 99.9% precision! It is just an exciting topic and I think we should keep an eye on this and let this research live on.
Number 2: First Contracting Human Muscle Grown in laboratory
Researchers have grown human skeletal muscle that contracts and responds just like native tissue to external stimuli like electrical pulses, biochemical signals and pharmaceuticals. This makes it possible to make muscle biopsies and test medicaments just from skin or blood samples. The possibilities that this technology can create is scary but exciting as hell.
Number 1: Electromagnetic Propulsion Device - EMdrive
Well this one exists for some time but it is one of the most controverse innovations in this century. The EMdrive seems to defy our current understanding of physics (This gives me goose).
Let's make it simple. The EmDrive is an so called RF resonant cavity thruster. This design works by having a magnetron push microwaves into a closed truncated cone, then push against the short end of the cone, and propel the craft forward. Scientists can't understand how this thing exactly works but many independent Laboratories have shown that it is actually creating thrust even in vacuum.
Something that is there but still can't be understood is amazingly exciting and hopefully we will learn things from it to boost the technology forward!
I hope you enjoyed my little collection of innovations of 2015/16, I would like to write more things like this. If you are interested write it into the comments. :)
amazing

Some of these are exciting, and a few a bit scary. Thid puts in in an easy to understand format. Appreciated that. Technology is moving so fast, and many are not aware of all that is out there all ready. Thank you !
