Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that connects the conscious plane with the unconscious during which psychic and physical alterations occur. The unconscious is that part of our mind that holds everything that comes to us during the day and all this affects us even if we aren't aware of it.
The first to employ hypnosis were the ancient egyptians in the so-called Sleep Temples, hypnosis is subject to a paradox, science doesn't doubt its effectiveness but many consider it to be paranormal. Hypnosis was accepted as a medical technique by the scientific community in the 1950s. It's used for many things including mind control and mind manipulation.
Hypnosis is a very powerful tool and if misused and used as a bad practice it can even be dangerous. Through hypnosis we have discovered how manipulable the human brain is, more than we would like to think.
All people are susceptible, at different levels, to being hypnotized, even people who show rejection. It's also possible to hypnotize someone without permission although a true professional would never dare to go that far.

It doesn't work like that. Something more like giving the suggestion (bad form here) "You are a chicken. You want to dance." But that's stage hypnotism and that sort of thing only really works on people who are both very suggestible and amicable to dancing like a chicken naked.
