in science •  7 years ago

The purpose of this experiment to learn how to follow instructions and BE SAFE.
DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT SUPERVISION OF A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.

Aim:
I want to safely be able to set myself on fire.

Equipment:
a trained safety officer (Science teacher)
tub filled with water
tube
propane gas
water
soap (detergent)
lighter
safety glasses
lab coat

Method:

  1. Tie any loose hair back, put on safety glasses, wear a lab coat (roll up the sleeves).
  2. Set up the tub with water and soap.
  3. Using the tube, bubble propane gas into the soapy water to make a mount of bubbles.
  4. With water, wet your hands, wrists and forearms.
Be SAFE. Be SAFE. Be SAFE
  5. Grab a scoop of bubbles.
  6. Hold the bubbles up in front of your face, as far away from you as you can. Lock your elbows.
  7. The trained safety officer then sets the bubbles on fire.
  8. SLOWLY, open your hands apart to let the fire burn off.
  9. DO NOT DROP YOUR HANDS BELOW YOUR EYE LEVEL because fire goes up and you will set yourself on fire.
