The purpose of this experiment to learn how to follow instructions and BE SAFE.
DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT SUPERVISION OF A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.
Aim:
I want to safely be able to set myself on fire.
Equipment:
a trained safety officer (Science teacher)
tub filled with water
tube
propane gas
water
soap (detergent)
lighter
safety glasses
lab coat
Method:
- Tie any loose hair back, put on safety glasses, wear a lab coat (roll up the sleeves).
- Set up the tub with water and soap.
- Using the tube, bubble propane gas into the soapy water to make a mount of bubbles.
- With water, wet your hands, wrists and forearms.
Be SAFE. Be SAFE. Be SAFE - Grab a scoop of bubbles.
- Hold the bubbles up in front of your face, as far away from you as you can. Lock your elbows.
- The trained safety officer then sets the bubbles on fire.
- SLOWLY, open your hands apart to let the fire burn off.
- DO NOT DROP YOUR HANDS BELOW YOUR EYE LEVEL because fire goes up and you will set yourself on fire.
