Ruler of the rice field | Scaly-Breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata)

Hi Steemians... The number of sparrows in the world is more than 40 species, of the family (genus Anthus). But this number is still being debated, even some researchers claim there are only 34 species, in this category genius becomes the most family member.

Now we will discuss about the Scaly-breasted Munia (Lonchura punctulata), of the Genus (Lonchura), Family (Estrildidae). The Scaly-breasted Munia has a short beak, and a grain eater.

Habitat and distribution.

Today the Lonchura punctulata species, spread all over the world, and are often considered pests to farmers, they often descend into rice fields to look for food, and not a few farmers catch it for sale. This causes the population to decline.

And the saddest is killing with insecticide poison with the active ingredient of dimehypo, and cause this bird to die.

Lonchura punctulata is an abundant species and classified as "Least Concern" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The species occupies an extremely large range, and its population, while still unquantified, is large and stable.Read more : Status_and_conservation

Breeding.

After the age of 7 months, the cheek birds have begun to enter the period of marriage, usually occurs in the rainy season. When the breeding season arrives, they will collect the dry grass, to make their nest.

Sparrow Morphology.

Sparrow small size, with body length between 10-12 cm and weight 10-14 gram. Male sparrows have slightly wider heads than female sparrows.
