The 335,000-year-old fossil that overturned the theory of human evolution

The Homo naledi fossil record found in South Africa together with corpse-gathering behavior could upset the science of evolution.
Archaeologists discover the fossils of at least three young Homo naledi in a cave in South Africa. The age of the fossil is thought to be very young, possibly the first evidence that the primordial Homo naledi was present at the same time as modern humans, according to New Scientist.

Using age-dating techniques, the team found that Homo naledi lived in Africa between 236,000 and 335,000 years ago. Homo sapiens are found to have a life expectancy of about 200,000 years. This shows that these two primitive species may have existed in the same era. This is the first time that one of the ancient human species has been found to be associated with modern humans in Africa.

Research on the structure of Homo naledi's hands reveals that they can make tools. Homophobia also raises doubts about the ability of the Homo sapiens to produce instruments that may rewrite the evolution of human ancestry. This new fossil appraisal sets the hypothesis of the exchange of tools and cultural activities between Homo naledi and Homo sapiens.

Archaeologists have also discovered new fossil evidence that Homo naledi buried the dead. This is surprising behavior, suggesting that this species can possess intelligence. Interestingly, Homo naledi is only one-third the size of the brain. These fossils belong to at least 3 individuals of two adults and one child.

The Homo naledi brought dead bodies into the underground cavern similar in character to the Neanderthals. In a cave in Spain, there is evidence that the Neanderthals collected corpses 400,000 years ago.
