As you surely know, Nikola Tesla was an inventor, electrical and mechanical engineer of Serbian origin, born in 1856 in what is now known as Croatia but who at that time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and who ended his days in New York, known above all for his pulse with Edison.
Como seguramente sabréis, Nikola Tesla fue un inventor, ingeniero eléctrico y mecánico de origen Serbio, nacido en el año 1856 en lo que hoy día se conoce como Croacia pero que en aquellos tiempos formaba parte del imperio austro-húngaro y que terminó sus días en Nueva-York, conocido sobre todo por su pulso con Edison.
Tesla was the author of numerous patents in the field of electromagnetism and laid the foundations for the use of electrical energy with the invention of alternating current (AC) versus direct current (DC) defended by Thomas Alba Edison, both participated in what which was called the "electrical warfare" in the late 19th century.
Tesla fue autor de numerosas patentes en el campo de electromagnetismo y sentó las bases para el uso de la energía eléctrica con la invención de la corriente alterna(CA) frente a la corriente continua(CC) defendida por Thomas Alba Edison, ambos participaron en lo que se llamó la guerra eléctrica a finales del siglo XIX.
The story is fascinating, all kinds of exhibitions were made about the advantages and disadvantages of DC versus AC, Tesla's idea was much better because AC allowed a better distribution of energy since Edison's DC power plants they had to be mounted every 1.5 km while the AC could be much further apart.

This battle was finally won by Nikola Tesla and AC was imposed worldwide as a distribution system to the chagrin of Edison. But Tesla was a bit geek because he did not patent most of his discoveries, so others more savvy than him took away all the credit, as was the case with Giuglelmo Marconi with the invention of the radio.

This caused Nikola Tesla to finally die anonymously, staying in a New York Hotel and sunk in misery after so much waste of talent and brilliance, at least as a tribute to his work with electromagnetism the electromagnetic induction unit was named in his honor as "Tesla".
