Science Experiment : How To Make A Simple Steamship

in science •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello all steemians and science lover. In this interesting experiment this time, we will make a simple Steamship. The working principle of the steam vessel is the conversion of energy from steam to motion. And this ship we can make with the used goods that are around us and the making is also very easy. This experiment aims to prove that heat energy can generate motion energy.

Theoretical Basis

Law of action-reaction (Newton's Law III), steamers also use the concept of Newton's III law. The steam engine provides an action force by spitting out the gas through the rear of the vessel and giving the reaction force by pushing the ship forward.

Newton III's Law of the Law: "If an object is working on force on a second object then the second object is also working on the force on the first object, of great force = the accepted but opposite force".
It should be noted that both forces must work on two different objects.
F action = - F reaction

The vapor pressure is a vapor at equilibrium with the non-vapor phase. The mass of a type is a measure of mass per unit volume of objects. The higher the mass of the type of an object the greater the mass of each volume.

Heat transfer in steamers including convection heat transfer type. Convection heat transfer occurs in liquids and gases and this occurs because of differences in density of the substance.

Tools and Materials

  1. Cork
  2. Beverage cans
  3. Candle
  4. Copper wire
  5. Plywood
  6. Basin
  7. Water
  8. Cutter
  9. Saw
  10. Tang (wire nuppers)
  11. Matches
  12. Double tip

Creation Steps

  1. Cut cork with cutter with size 25x10 cm and 36x20 cm.
  2. Discard the contents of drink soda, how to crush the top with a nail of medium size.
  3. Cut a 35 cm long wire as much as two for a tin stand, wrap it with pliers at the end of a can and a can.
  4. Cut the same length of candle about 4 cm as much as 4 pieces.
  5. Cut a 20x5 cm plywood to form a pointed one on one side.
  6. Paste the plywood with double-tip in cork measuring 25x10 cm.
  7. Fill the can with water.
  8. Paste a small cork into a large cork.
  9. Put candles lined under cans Light a candle with a match.
  10. Put the cork and tin assemblies over a basin of water and wait for the experiment to evaporate, then the experiment will move.

Explanation

The above simple steamers proved that heat energy can generate motion energy. The water in the can boils and releases strong steam because there is heat energy from the wax that makes the ship-like assembly work. This proves the conversion of heat energy to steam energy.

Conclusion

Based on the results of experiments on making a simple steam ship above proved that heat energy can generate motion energy. The water in the can boils and releases strong steam because there is heat energy from the wax that makes the ship-like assembly work. This proves the conversion of heat energy to steam energy.

In addition, this experiment also proves that there is a relationship between the law of reaction action, vapor pressure, density and heat transfer causing the steamers to run.
