Does Consciousness exist outside the Brain?

in science •  7 years ago

Have you ever wondered if consciousness -- that is the state of being aware of oneself or something -- also exists 'outside' the brain?

Or perhaps to put it differently: can minds communicate with each other without using the five common senses in what may be described as a "web of consciousness"? And if so, what does this implicate for our reality and what is the nature of this "web of consciousness" ?

In this video the narrator asks: "It may be the ultimate unresolved mystery of human life: how and why does consciousness exist?"
