The enzyme that helps to destroy plastic.

in science •  7 years ago

The day of anxiety for the pollution of plastic waste is now really in the way to the end. A team of researcher from Britain and the United States says they have found the enzymes those help to destroy plastic. The name of the plastic Compound is Polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

It was the first patent to make bottles by plastic compounds in 1940. For the purpose of making the bottle, the special compound was chosen for one reason that the compound can survive millions of years in the environment. It has also been found in the study that polyethylene terephthalate, a specialized plastic compound, has become the main cause of pollution in most parts of the earth surface and water.

The scientists of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), under the Portsmouth University and the US Energy Ministry, find out the enzyme during researching with another topic. Researchers have found that the enzymes help a special bacteria to break the plastic compound 'PET' or 'digest it' by eating.

Professor John Mc Guhan of Portsmouth University said that after learning about this power of enzymes, they started trying to increase that power. They use some amino acids on the enzymes and found that enzymes consuming plastic faster. Scientists say that the enzyme is not toxic at all, this method can be very effective in the future to reduce the amount of plastic waste. However, more research is needed. Reuters.

Really man this post worth resteem.& This thing is really needed in the world where we are using a lots of plastics in our daily use.

Thanks a lot to evaluate my article on plastic waste and the way of get rid of it.

Keep it up man.

Interesting one @nihar1969
Whats the time period for the total degradation of plastic waste by bacteria. The plastic degrading bacteria were reported way back but due to the slow rate and huge rate of stabilityof plastic it is not that much effective. There is certainly need to develop something to increase the effeciency.

Next time try to use the steemstem tag and try to elaborate more on the topic. I know you can do much better than this.
Cheers

It is limited in the laboratory till now. It will take time to come for consumer users and need more research for industrial uses.
Surely I update the improvement in Steemit.

Meow! I agree with @vinamra.
In my opinion this post is worth the resteem, however, if there is more data, even links to your sources so others can track the progress with short quotes from those articles with proper credit, or some more of your own personal thoughts on the matter, these are things you could use to improve your blog. I really love and appreciate this effort to inform us about this bacteria and I am happy that this exists. I would love to see more updates on this or more environmental posts like this from you with a little more of your personal opinion added to it as well as the information and facts. Thank you again. Purrrr 😸

Thanks for reading my article in details and your nice comments. I must update it.

Thank you for posting this article! I upvoted and resteemed it as this is an issue that does interest me. I am currently fighting the plastic bag problem by collecting plastic grocery bags from my neighbors and family to use to mend lawn chairs and weave baskets.

You are most welcome.
I am very happy to learn that you are fighting with the same issue and working for cleanup it.

You are doing great.
