Scientists do not cease to amaze

British scientists demonstrated the most powerful acoustic "power beam"

Acoustic vortices made it possible to create a "power ray" capable of holding in the air macroscopic bodies much larger than the length of the sound wave.

"Power rays", capable of capturing and moving objects through the air, exist not only in science fiction, but also in physics. To do this, you can use, say, the sound pressure, and "acoustic levitation" is used in experiments with microscopic objects.

Using more and more powerful ultrasound and other technical tricks, scientists have learned to keep even the bodies of individual insects in the air, although raising a cow, say, like an alien ship visiting the Earth in fantasy films, is impossible even theoretically. It is shown that objects whose dimensions significantly exceed the length of a standing sound wave levitate extremely unstable and begin to rotate uncontrollably.
