How to Calculate the Number of Crops that
fit in an Acre ?
You can't run away from maths ©
Steps
l. Get the Plant spacing
- Convert it into meters if in ft.
- Get the Unit Area {length*Width}
- Then divide the total area of an acre -
4000sqmtrs square by the unit area. - The answer will give u how many plants to put in an acre of that specific crop.
Examples
Water Melon
Spacing is 1.5m 1.5m
Unit Area is 1.51 .5 = 2.25m squared
Total area of an acre =4000m squared
Divide 4000/225
-We get 1777 ~l 700 Planting Holes.
Passion fruit
Spacing is 88ft {U can as well use 66ft}
Convert to meters we get 2.6m * 2.6m
Unit Area = 2.6*2.6 = 6.76m squared
Total area per acre 4000m squared
Divide 4000/676 = 591.7
-Hence ~ 592 Planting Holes -seedlings
Maize
Spacing is 45cm * 60cm
In meters 0.45m * 0.6m
Unit Area = 0.45*0.6 = 0.27m squared
Total area 4000m scared
Divide 4000/027
-We get 14815 ~ i 5000 Plant Holes
-We get 14815 ~ 15000 Plant Holes
Banana
Spacing is 1010ft
In meters it's 3m * 3m
Unit Area 33 = 9m squared
Total area 4000m squared
Divide 4000/9
-We get 444 Planting HolesHence suck
Oil palm
Triangular system of planting with
9 x 9 x 9 m spacing accommodates 143
palms/ha.
Cocoa
,spacing trees 1.5 t 2.4 m apart. However, high planting density has a considerable effect on the yield, which is closely related with the age...
