NGC 5256 is a pair of galaxies in its final stage of merging. It was previously observed by Hubble as part of a collection of 59 images of merging galaxies, released on Hubble's 18th anniversary on April 24, 2008.
A mob of shading and light moves through this unconventionally formed cosmic system, NGC 5256. Its smoke-like crest are flung out every which way and the brilliant center enlightens the disorderly areas of gas and tidy twirling through the world's middle. Its odd structure is because of the way this isn't one cosmic system, however two—during the time spent a galactic crash.
It's a big treat to be able to witness this cosmic event!

That is amazing. Maybe someday humans will be able to catch a planet that was flung out to examine it.

Interesting. @originate I'm not sure if you can answer this or not but when this happens (two galaxies collide) does it create a sort of chaos within the galaxies? Like do planets and stars collide and would inhabited planets recognize that this is happening to them? So for instance, if earths galaxy collided with another would we experience anything different or does it happen at such a large scale that the event goes mostly unnoticed?
These might be tough questions but if you have the answer, I'm very interested.
