November 10, 1983, University of Southern California, as, fred cohen student in a seminar on computer security describes the paper "computer viruses - theory and experiments" This paper became the first recorded study of quiet "computer virus".

the first academic work on computer viruses was actually made by John Von Neumann who lectured at the University of Illinois in 1949. He describes how a computer program can duplicate itself. however, Cohen went a step further by experimenting and generating the first computer virus.

Today, computer viruses are becoming a common nuisance to the use of a computer. it can spread and "multiply" through various mediums, such as floppy disks, cds, dvds and usb drives, and even over the network or the internet. the term virus is mistakenly also often used to refer to disruptions or attacks through the internet that actually form of malware, such as adware and spyware.
