Science is not an invention. It is a way how to look at things. How to think about the universe in rational and empiric way.
But you are right, it is up to people to use it properly. No one can guarantee 100% proper using of these technologies, but you can make it better by education, law, and enploynment rules. And also by improving the technologies.
