The protective shield of our ship Earth

The universe is vast and full of moving objects, these objects that move in the void travel at high speeds, even though the origin of life on earth is not known in a scientific way, there are only theories such as big bam and evolution, until now are only theories, but within the physical study of the celestial bodies there are fascinating things that we have discovered and perhaps even more fascinating things that we are still to discover. One of those discoveries that we hardly think about is frightening is the fact that there are thousands or perhaps millions of celestial bodies of different sizes traveling at high speeds in space.

It is a danger because our planet is another body moving in that same space, however, our solar system has a protection system perfectly created to control that these events cannot cause serious damage to our planet. For average-sized celestial bodies the effect of collective gravity including the gravity of the sun makes these objects take trajectories away from the earth, the sun attracts even comets and other bodies, and the effect of the gravitational field within our solar system makes it difficult for others to collide with our planet.

But celestial bodies moving in space are not the only danger to our planet, and there are cosmic ray particles coming from the stars in the universe that can be fatal to life on earth, including our nearest star, the sun, which is constantly emitting large electron discharges which many are directed to us, the point being that surprisingly our planet has a protective layer or system for both small celestial bodies and harmful electron bursts.

In the case of small bodies the protective layer is the atmosphere, that gaseous layer that envelops our planet into which we are submerged. To give you an example of how it works, let's consider a situation that can occur within our planet, imagine you are going to throw a rock at an object that is 20 meters away from you. When the rock is thrown with all its force it will impact the object with an X force. Now suppose that the object is inside the submerged water 20 meters away, you will be able to throw the object but the impact will be much less, this is because the water will create a protection system that becomes solid depending on the speed of what you want to enter it, you can enter a pool and the water will not put resistance, but as you increase the speed with which it does so will find greater resistance to the point where the water can be as solid as a wall. In this way our atmosphere protects us from external objects, you can even feel it if you travel at high speed on the surface, that great breeze that opposes the movement you generate is the atmosphere, also used for the operation of parachutes.

The objects that move in space do so at enormous speeds, if the moon, which lacks atmosphere is impacted by one of these bodies no matter how small it is it will receive all the impact, that is to say everything on its surface will suffer the consequences, but if that body comes to our planet, before reaching the surface it will find that wall called atmosphere, the impact considerably reduces the speed of the incoming object and even disintegrates it eliminating the danger it may represent for our surface.

In the case of particles from the sun and other stars, it was recently discovered that our planet has an invisible protective shield that prevents them from entering. The discovery was made by a team of astrophysicists led by the University of Colorado Boulder. The researchers found a'screen' that repels the so-called'killer electrons' from solar storms, this invisible shield in our magnetosphere does to these killer electrons what our atmosphere does to small asteroids, stops them. We find that our planet is perfectly designed with an innovative protection system.
