Drugs are POISON : The DANGERS of self-medication.

Drugs can be classified according to their influence on the users.

Narcotics: render senses ineffective, reduce pains, and induce sleep for a period of time.
Tranquilizers: alters emmotions. e. g. Valium
Sedatives: affects the central nervous system.
Hallucinogens: affects thinking, perception and self awareness. e. g. Marijuana
Stimulant: activate the nervous system above normal threshold. e. g. COCAIN, TRAMADOL.

Basically, it's an erroneous believe of having more control over self body. It is not limited to this but also taking PRESCRIBED drugs left over from a previous sickness. Also, the logic of overdosed of hard drugs all in the name of getting HIGH.

The possibility and freedom to access any type of drugs legally or illegally without prescription has contributed greatly to the practice of drug abuse globally. Some even concluded that taking over the counter drugs with a doctor prescription seems very fast and saves cost.
But the effect is harmful and considered life threatening. This includes...

Drug resistance: e. g. Antibiotics are meant to deal with the actions of dangerous bacteria infection within or outside the body. Taking antibiotics when not prescribed leads to bacteria resistant and further to serious deleterious life threatening conditions.

Antibiotics can't just be used with one's discretion but Doctor's prescription.

Drinks, either soft or alcoholic are also generally abuse when the daily limits is exceeded.
