It's time to add more candles on the cake for the birthday of Earth . More precisely - as many as are necessary to celebrate another 150 million years.
Scientists have discovered rocks from northern Canada who have shown signs of life at the age of 3.95 billion years. This is a new record in the fossil record . Scientists from the University of Tokyo have analyzed rocks from the period of Earth's history, called Eoarheen. It covers the time before 4 to 3.6 billion years, when the crust was still new and the atmosphere was heavy and without oxygen .
As is clear, they have left many rocks since then, most have melted so that it is impossible to identify, becoming part of the mantle or just turning to dust. One of the few exceptions are beach rocks in Greenland called Ishua. They heated the rock and analyzed isotopes it contained, the researchers found that they were biogenic and evidence of early cells on Earth.
