A thought about artificial intelligence

One thing that I'm looking forward too
that I hope to see develop to an advanced stage,
during my lifetime is artificial intelligence and robotics.
I believe that mankind is capable of creating very lifelike
androids in the future, that will eventually become very difficult to distinguish
from real humans to a degree.

So I'm always interested in seeing how
these things are developing today.
Like ai in robotics, ai in games and chatbots etc.
And I believe that these ai can become very intelligent.
People are saying that we will soon have ai that will
be more intelligent than humans. This ai is being made intelligent
by programming them in such a way that they can learn to recognize
patterns or problems and come up with a certain solution for them.

But here is something I'm thinking about that ai might still lack in the future.
Maybe I'm completely wrong about this.
I can imagine ai to actually become 100 times smarter than humans.
I can imagine ai mimicking human behaviors.
But what I can not imagine where I think humans might even be superior even if
the ai is more intelligent, is ai having imagination.

What I wonder is, can ai eventually be programmed in such a way to
visualize and imagine things, and come up with new creative ideas?
As far as I know, humans often remember things through images.
But ai would not right? I can see this maybe being some sort of a problem to achieve in
the future. But definitely, something that they are already experimenting with.
It is al very fascinating to me.
