Scientists Develop Brain Chips That Gives Humans Super Intellect

 Intelligence has long been a matter of debate in the physical and social sciences. Is intelligence a matter of the genetic lottery, is it something that a person either has or simply does not? Or is intelligence primarily constructed by parenting methods, a conducive social environment, and superior education methods?Now a new innovation could throw a serious curve ball into the heart of this debate. It is the proposed creation of a brain implant chip that could allow a person to access the entire power of the net with a single thought.

Super-intelligence chips to enter the market in five years

The chip is the brainchild of Dr. Moran Cerl, a neuro-scientist, business  professor based at Northwestern University working in  conjunction with executives in Silicon Valley who he has declined to name. Dr. Cerl explains that this chip would function via an internet connection which would allow a person to access the answers to any questions  they might have. He said that the brain chip could be on the market in as little as five years.Dr. Cerl is not alone in trying to create this kind  of super-chip that connects the human brain to the internet. Engineers from Facebook have also been hard at work developing what is referred to as a ‘brain-compute interface,’ and the controversial Tesla CEO Elon Musk has also backed a similar system in his company Neural-link which aims to provide a cure for blindness.Dr. Cerl explains that  the primary point of research at the  current time is figuring out the logistics of actually getting the chip into people’s heads. “Everyone is spending a lot of time right now trying to find ways to get things into the brain without drilling a hole in your skull, ” Cerf said. “Can you eat something that will actually get  to your brain? Can you eat things in parts that will assemble inside your head?”No matter what method these companies and individuals eventually land on, the coming of the intelligence chip is something that society will have to deal with in the imminent future. Indeed, approximately 40,000  people in the United States already live with smart chips, but these are only intended for specific medical purposes. 

 As the market expands, clear ethical problems will be posed by the  intelligence chip, and it is problem that Cerl himself  recognizes. “This is no longer a science problem. This is a social problem, ” Cerf said. Speaking of the people who will have these chips installed he said, “ They can make money by just thinking about the right investments, we cannot; so they’re going to get richer, they’re going to get healthier, they’re going to live longer.” As these chips are undoubtedly only going to be  available to those people who can already pay top dollar, they run the risk of perpetuating the growing gulf of inequality in society between the rich and the poor. People with super intellect and A.I. will be directly connected to the cloud. They  will have instant access to vast amounts of information. Normal humans will be like neanderthals.
