There are some more nuanced things that I didn't mention as well: many of the studies used a modified version of the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale that excluded symptoms concerning sleep. This affects results because it changes the study's definition of depression, excluding symptoms that might be a cornerstone. Kind of a problem, but not one there's an easy solve for.
