Abu Yusuf Ya'qub Al-Kindi is known as the first philosopher born of Islamic circles, his Nasab came to the original Arabic Qahthan. During his lifetime, in addition to Arabic, he was fluent in Greek. He is also one of the great Muslim scientists in the field of medicine and the owner of one of the greatest known notions throughout human civilization.

#Scientific Discovery and Thought of Al-Kindi #

Al-Kindi is a great scientist who is equivalent to Ibn al-Haitham and Al-Biruni. He has great ideas that may surpass the discovery of other great scientists throughout history. Had he not been living at that time, perhaps Islamic civilization would not have been as timely as that. Likewise during the time of Ibn al-Haitham, Al-Biruni, Al-Karakhi and Ibn Sina. As we know that the development of civilization occurs because of the ever-increasing movement or in other words there is continuous work that is constantly done between generations. As it was at that time, the Arabs did not have the great work of previous translations. Al-Kindi included a scientist who lived during the translation period, and he himself was a translator. The translators of Al-Kindi's books say that the collection of books he authored in the field of philosophy, logic and various other sciences, amounted to two hundred books. Even Dr. Abdul Halim Muntashir said in his book "Tarikh Al-Ilm" that the book composed by Al-Kindi reached 230 books.

  • Al-Kindi has seven papers in the field of music in which contains various types of musical instruments, various violins, music balance, and the relationship between music and poetry. These books are still stored in the library of the British museum. Al-Kindi deepened the Greek philosophy and translated some of his books, adding to the descriptions and comments that pointed to his enormous abilities in that field. This fact makes the Caliph Al-Ma'mun assigns him the task of translating Aristotle's books. He also mastered Persian and Indian thought and philosophy. He traced the method of philosophy and mathematical logic as did the Greek philosophers.

Al-Kindi's strong relationship with philosophy has had a huge impact on the development of his scientific thinking. Al-Kindi rejected all ideas that were against Islam and sought to integrate Islamic philosophy and thought.

#The disappearance of Al-Kindi's Books

Ya'qub Al-Kindi has more than two hundred books he authored. Even Dr. Abdul Halim Muntashir said in his book "Tarikh Al-Ilm wa Daur Al-Arab fi Taqaddumihi" that Al-Kindi's book is more than 230 books. But unfortunately, most of these books are missing and do not get to us unless the title of the title is told by the translator to us.
