Paris Climate Agreement Explained

in science •  8 years ago

See that's what so crazy about it. I swear in his speech he claimed that China didn't sign it (or maybe he meant that they haven't or aren't really planning to reduce their emissions.) I know that Syria didn't because duh, and neither did Nicaragua because they felt like it wasn't hard enough on countries like the US. I feel like Trump is looking for short-term gains while he's in office to say he did something, instead of making choices that are in the best long-term interest of the United States... This is a statement that's true regardless of whether someone believes climate change actually exists. I'm surprised to see so many climate change is a hoax people on this site, especially since we're earlier adopters of technology for the most part, but people here still praise Trump for making coal great again instead of renewable sources of energy... it's almost absurd to me.

I think that from the 195 countries that took part in the negotiations 148 have signed and the others are going to join the agreement in a different way. Not sure what that means. Well ofc Syria did not sign but if the war were to end tomorrow it would be the best place to start building renewable since it will be build from scratch. Trump's goal might actually be to lower the stock prices of the renewable companies and buy himself in, if he is the business man he says he is. It is all about money, even "saving" the world.

If there's one thing I hate, it's that government officials are influenced by corporations. And that they make the best decisions for their wallet instead of for their constituents. Time to invest in more cryptocurrencies I guess :D
