URINALYSIS

I promised to share my Industrial Training Presentation topic here which is Urinalysis. Urinalysis is also known as urine analysis. Urinalysis is the test performed on urine to detect or maintain any metabolic disorder or diseases. The analysis carried out on the urine sample are:
I. PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: the appearance of the urine is checked and examined. This includes the color, odor, clarity, cloudiness, and present of any particle in it. The normal color of urine is Amber and it should be clear. The smell should also be slightly aromatic. Anything different from this maybe due to diet, exercise, diseases, use of some drugs, metabolic disorder e.t.c

II. CHEMICAL COMPONENT EXAMINATION: a urine test strip is used to check the chemical component present in the urine. The chemical component that will be checked is Nitrogen, Bilirubin, Urobilinogen, Ascorbate, Ketone, Glucose, Protein, pH, Specific gravity, leukocyte, and blood. The presence of some of this component indicates some metabolic disorder or diseases. Normally there is a way the body reabsorb this chemical component. So, this component shouldn't be present in the urine. Malfunctioning of Kidney or Liver or Urinary tract diseases can lead to their presence in urine.

III. Microscopic Examination: this involves the viewing of the component present in the urine that can't be seen with eyes by making use of the microscope. The component to be checked here is Red blood cells, White Blood Cells, Epithelial cells, Cast, Yeast, and Crystal. It is normal to see very little of this component or none of it in the urine. When there are lots of it present in the urine then it is an indication of some diseases.

The significant and diseases associated with the presence of some chemical component, microscopic component and abnormal physical appearance will be discussed in my subsequent post.
