[Nature and Science] Star's lifetime and Human being

in science •  7 years ago

Hello. all steemitians.
I'm @yhstella and this is my very first post about science and nature in English.

Today, I will gonna post about stars in the sky, especially 'Supernova' is the one that I'm gonna tell you about.

I'll tell you at the bottom why I choose this as a topic.

This photograph is an actual image of a supernova, which is at the left lower corner, taken by Hubble sapce telescope. Look how bright it is.
As shown above, many astronomers include Tycho Brahe, for example, tried to observe supernovae throughout history, even they could catch sight of supernovae with their bare eyes.

'Nova' means 'new' in Latin, such as 'nuevo' in spanish and 'nouveau' in french. Adding the prefix 'super' makes it far more luminous than ordinary one.

The truth is, however, a supernova is not a celestial body which is created recently. It's more correct to say that it is in the twillight of its life.

Stars in the sky also had their birth and death like human being.

Let me tell you this in a simple way.

In the universe after the big bang, the lightest elements such as hydrogen and helium were flowing through space like clouds.

They had a peaceful moment for a while. However, in a sudden, they became packed and made it more crowded and dense region, which was a good place for nuclear reactions.
As a result of nuclear reactions, heavy elements such as iron or copper are made and they went into the deepest part of the space.
It became heavier by collecting space dusts through gravity, and stored and reserved energy and mass, which was actually the same from a quantum-mechanical perspective.
The one with low energy and mass took its step to become a 'Brown dwarf', and the others could make a 'supernova explosion'.
Also, the one that was not that insufficient to be degenerated could make the explosion if there was a 'companion star'
After the explosion, the star could become a 'blackhole' if the energy stored is pretty big. You know, blackholes absorb everything include light, so that they never can twinkle.
Through this explosion, the universe nearby collected heavy elements and used them beneficially. Iron, gold and so many heavy elements on earth was made by that way.

This actually is far more complicated than I described. I hope you understand this but I'm not sure of it.

This process is so-called 'Stellar evolution theory', but I think it's more accurate to call it 'Lifetime of a star', since Evolution is a change inside a biological group, not an individual.

I choose this topic because so many things are similar between a star's lifetime and our lives.

Everyone couldn't choose their environment to be born, but their life could shine depending on their efforts made. (If a star collects enough mass, it's ready to make a supernova explosion.)

Also, even if your ability lacks slightly, you could shine more with your partner. (Think about a star with a companion star)

However, lack of effort (become a browndwarf) or excessive greed (become a blackhole) make you fail.

Cautious choice and adequate way of effort makes you a valuable one to the society. (Supernova explosion let us use precicious elements like iron and gold)

I'm pretty sure that most of you want to become a supernova at the twillight of your life.

I think the star's lifetime tells us what is the proper attitude to become a supernova as a human being.

I wish I could be the one of the stars in the sky someday and shine a light to our little planet, so that people see the silver lining in the dark.

It's so hard to narrate and write down my idea in English.
Please don't be too harsh about my poor english. I will try harder (to become a supernova) ^^

Thanks for reading.

This is very well written and very well explained! You can be proud of your English (although English is not my mother-tongue too).

Are you working in physics?

thanks for your compliment !
I am a medical doctor actually, but I had a crush on physics for a long time ^^

Wow you are a physicist !
I kind of envy you and admire you

Yes I am a physicist. Thanks for your kind words!

But I would like to say that saving people is a very noble and very important task! We can be glad that society has people like you.

Very nice job! Good analogous comparison at the end.

thanks. Finding analogy between science and philosophy is an enjoyable thing to do.
