Sciencepic X edible metal 可食用金屬

Haven't been posting #sciencepic for a while so let's bring some back

This looks like poo lol, but what we had in here is some edible metals, also know as varks. Varks are usually made up of silver or gold, precious metals. They are often used in food decoration, doesn't contain any nutrition, solely for aesthetically pleasure, making the food look luxury. But in reality, those pieces of Gold foils are usually only 0.2 to 0.8µm in thickness.

You may wonder how much gold are in there, let's try some simple maths

let's say we have a 2cm by 2cm piece of vark here, we actually have a 0.2mm^3 of gold only (2cm X 2cm X 0.5µm)

gold has a density of 19.2g/cm^3 = 0.0192g/mm^3

1g of gold today is 42.5 USD
