The map is not the territory, scientific theories as opinion and data as fact

The map is not the territory. People miss that models are not the data. In the way models are described, self-referential, in isolation, epicycle geocentrism and heliocentrism both fit the data, plate tectonics and expansion tectonics both fit the data, an expanding universe and "tired light" both fit the data. The "big bang" or energy signature of the aether both fit the data. But taken together, only one collection of those models can be accurate. See the whole, and remember that science is neutral in regards to models (opinion), and objective when it comes to data. Theories compete to explain data, and it is the competition that is the foundation of the scientific method. "scientism" is the myth that competition is not a factor, a reflection of society being operated under monopoly on violence, leading to monopoly on power and on government, and from that "scientism" as "monopoly on science" which is just pure nonsense. Just a lie. Compete. Trust yourself. Reality is made of memes, society is made of lies.
