18th December 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum was a magical day for Scotland. It was absolutely buzzing with energy you could actually feel in the air. Strangers chatting for hours in the street about politics, people you would never have imagined taking an interest in politics now totally engaged, everyone volunteering, randomly setting up YES stalls anywhere and everywhere to get the word out, sticking YES stickers to almost every lamp post and window that we could see. Even though we didn't get the desired result that day it changed peoples perceptions of how we can actually work together. No one was getting paid a penny yet we didn't want to go home at night there wasn't enough hours in the day to achieve the things we wanted to do. We were dreaming big we wanted huge meetings every day of the week where we could enlighten other folk. Girls who had never even been to a meeting let alone setting them up in a day or twos notice, blagging church halls for a few hours so we could speak to community's, if we couldn't find a hall we would just stand in the town centre with megaphones it was brilliant. It was all achievable because we shared a passion. Scotland being an independent country. The way everyone pulled together and worked towards a common goal was amazing. It really gave me hope that we can all work together and do amazing things when we really want to. Here are some images from that memorable time x
