As you may recall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg won her seat on the Supreme Court by a vote in the Senate that took place on August 3, 1993. That Senate vote was 96 to 3 in favor, with one not voting.
Yes, it was a Democratic majority Senate. But 96 to 3?!
Here are some of the senators who voted to confirm Ginsburg:
Lincoln Chafee (R-RI)
Larry Craig (R-ID)
Bob Dole (R-KS)
Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Bob Packwood (R-OR)
Here's a wild suggestion: Ginsburg was not some kind of raging leftist. She didn't become one on the Supreme Court, and she wasn't one before she joined it.
Rather, the Overton window has shifted so far to the right that the same people who voted for Ginsburg in 1993 now view her and anybody like her as raging leftists, so they're trying to "restore balance" by adding some hard-right wackaloon like Amy Coney Barrett to the court in her place.
Heck, adding an exact clone of RBG to the court would not restore balance-- it was slanted to the conservative before she died, and it will be slanted further if Trump replaces her.
The liberal contingent of the court is limited to Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor, and Stephen Breyer, and Breyer's 82 years old.
Do you really want Trump replacing RBG AND Breyer?
Trump's administration has been installing young hard-right judges in every available role, and federal judges serve LIFE TERMS, just as the Supreme Court (who are also federal judges, of course) do.
That, to me, is the single most important reason to get him out of office as quickly and decisively as possible. VOTE, people!
