i just finished up on a screencast for a client. i'm really proud of this one because i managed to get it nailed in the second take/pass and the client likes it. i also managed to get it done in exactly two minutes. nice and quick and easy for the customer to understand. i really like the fact that as a freelancer i can pick and choose the companies i want to work for instead of working for a company in a bricks and mortar places where things just get thrown at you. seriously it's the future of working.
being able to pick and choose the clients you work for based on their products, their ethics, what they are trying to achieve, the communications back and forth has been liberating to my overall creative work. for me it's just about me having a career it's about working on things i'm passionate about. you hear that saying all the time and it sounds a little hollow i know but what i'm really saying is work that you enjoy to do. it helps you get paid and it helps them amplify a product.
i really like screenly.io as a company and as a product too. that's important to me, nobody wants to work on stuff they don't believe in. i've turned down lots of work from other places in the past because i could see it was just a shot in the dark or did not like the comms, marketing teams or the product just plain sucked. it's important as an independant creative worker to bring your ethics tree along with you when you work online. you become known and connected to the products you work on.
i'm kinda pumped to get a new job/screencast come in from these guys and it had the addon effect of making me look at amazon again today for another screen, i want to have screenly setup behind me when i do my streams sometimes so that i can have you guys send me stuff in like pictures or videos or even put the video collobrations we do on the screen behind me, maybe even do a skype interview and have the people behind -- not sure how it's all gonna work out but trust me, screenly is going to be part of the mix, it's a power digital signage solution that you run on a raspberry pi.
anyway, just wanted to show you some of my work and what i do when i'm not blogging on steem. it's gonna be a busy day and it JUST started raining so i guess no more video making for a few hours, i might chill down for a bit, the other half will be just about waking up by the time i finish this. timezones eh? :)
