Busts at the Oldbridge House

County Meath, Ireland

The Oldbridge House is a beautiful 18th Century house in County Meath, Ireland, built upon the land where the Battle of the Boyne occured. The Battle of the Boyne took place in 1690 between the forces of King James II of England, and Dutch Prince William of Orange. William's army won the war and James fled to France making the Battle of the Boyne a significant victory in the history of the British Isles.

The Old Bridge House is currently home to the Battle of the Boyne Museum, but it also has a spectacular garden area in the backyard. After a tour of the museum, @cneck and I walked around the backyard. There were various bust statues located throughout the garden. Here's a few pictures of them. The bust in the photo above gave me a good laugh. I wonder what he was looking at.

The woman in the above statue was not being modest at all. She was all about the "free the nipple" movement back in the day.

While we were approaching the statue in the photo below, I thought for sure it was a woman that was being much more modest. As we got closer, I realized it was just a very feminine looking man with his hair tied up into a bow.

It was definitely a Monday morning when the man below was getting his bust made. The agony on his face was perfectly portrayed by the sculptor. This was by far my favorite bust on the lot.
