Sculpture: “Bringing Home The Wishing Rock” by John T. Young of Seattle WashingtonsteemCreated with Sketch.

in sculpture •  7 years ago  (edited)

This sculpture lines the the sidewalk which leads to the entrance of the Spokane City combined Greyhound Bus/Amtrak Train Depot.

It utilizes columnar basalt found on the Spokane West Plains, among some very unique lava rock formations created during the last Ice Age.

The “ Wishing Rock” being pulled was placed at this location by Native Americans living in the Spokane area long before any new world settlers came to settle. Basalt columns and steel cables were added to complete the sculpture.

Great post. Once thing I've learned in life is "Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs."

So true!

Thanks
