A rare scene of sea water turning into neon blue color was caught on the seashore near northeast China's Dalian City on Saturday night. This is a natural phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction called bioluminescence. It is typically seen in calm waters, when billions of micro-organism emit light when they are disturbed by waves or currents in the wake of ships that stir up oxgygen. Experts say the illuminating mechanism of micro-organism is activated to scare off predators.
