Spiritual search: What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God

Although Thomas Aquinas, father of scholastic philosophy, explains that in a strict sense the word spirit designates the divine substance, the wisdom; the New Testament uses the word "spirit" in a broader sense, the spirit can mean mentality, thought, intelligence.
The apostle Paul in the first epistle to the Corinthians uses the word "spirit" as mentality, there is a mentality "according to the world" and another "according to God": "What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words." 1 Corinthians 2:12-13.
When Paul mentions the existence of spiritual realities, he is making a reasoning that comes from Aristotle's metaphysics; there is a physical and temporal plane, and another plane of eternal and immutable realities.

And these spiritual realities, taught by the spirit, are manifested on the physical plane in different ways, through wisdom, through prophecy: "To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous power, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirit, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.", 1 Corinthians 12:8-10. Spiritual realities can only be taught by the spirit of God.
Paul also clarifies that we cannot access the knowledge of the spirit of God when we are immersed in a mentality according to the world, if we desire above all things earthly goods such as money, we cannot receive the true spiritual goods that God provides us, as it happened to the rich young man who could not follow Jesus (Mark 10:17-20).
The spiritual gifts must be requested wisely and without doubt to God above else (James 1:5-8), only in this way God grants us his "spirit", in this consist the true spiritual search.
