Overview:
Blue Frontiers is a company that is coming up with an innovative idea of shifting the habitation of human kind from land to oceans or seas. It is using blockchain technology to decentralize the government structure. Increase in sea level due to global warming is the major concern for us today. Blue Frontiers have developed the idea of seasteads which will allow people to restructure their societies and reduce the soil erosion which adversely affects the marine life.
Seasteads:
Seasteads are the settlements that float on sea. The seasteads in other words are human habitation which will help humans to live in sea. Seasteads are currently solving problems of centralized governments and lack of land available near coastal areas. People will also have the advantage of floating seasteads as they can be moved as and when required and people will have the choice to rearrange their communities. This also breaks the centralized system of the government. The governments will be the service provider for the habitants of its territory and the government will then have to attract people to come to their territory.
Sustainable Development:
Blue Frontiers are looking into sustainable development of seasteads where the materials used for construction will not have any harmful effects on the environment and the sea life around it. The seasteads will also be tested for its durability in water and further their operational cost will be estimated, and detailed construction will be carried out.
Blue Frontier plans to build 14 floating platforms connected with floating walkways in its first project. The total space required will be 7500 square metres and the average cost estimated for each platform is $5 million (USD).
Benefits of Seasteading:
• It will give people freedom and flexibility to create their own communities.
• People can leave the governments in which they do not wish to participate.
• It will no longer be required to search land and houses.
• The remote oceans where there is less risk of storms and plenty of sunshine can attract people to settle there.
