Directed-Energy Weapon

A directed-energy weapon (DEW) is a ranged weapon system that inflicts damage at a target by emission of highly focused energy, including laser, microwaves and particle beams. Potential applications of this technology include anti-personnel weapon systems, missile defense system, and the disabling of lightly armored vehicles or mounted optical devices.

In the United States, the Pentagon, DARPA, the Air Force Research Laboratory, United States Army Armament Research Development and Engineering Center, and the Naval Research Laboratory are researching technologies like directed-energy weapons and railguns to counter maturing threats posed by fast missiles such as ballistic missiles, hypersonic cruise missiles, and hypersonic glide vehicles. These systems of missile defense are expected to come online in the mid to late-2020s or later. Russia, China, India, and the United Kingdom are also developing directed-energy weapons.

And I do recall the Goofman trying to figure out if a microwave could be used as a DEW.

And the plot sickens, er thickens, er quickens ...

The high dive is a pike and tuck away, the thrill of being there and doing that in absentia drove wide world of sports to cover Acapulco cliff diving. I wonder if people watched as part of the indy 500 syndrome, the entertainment value of seeing others crash and burn?

Wascaly wabbits hang with roadrunners, not coyotes

I have heard that he got tired after 499 laps (that IS a lot of left turns) and needed to crash, but that was a bit extreme. (Observing humans to learn humor, but I must be observing the wrong ones?)
