This is my entry for the Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 59.
I'm playing Johann Pachelbel's Ciacona in D minor. This music is in the public domain and you may follow along with the score at IMSLP. Alternatively, you may purchase a hard copy from Sheet Music Plus.
Seven months ago, I presented the Ciacona in F minor which is also one of the six surviving chaconnes by Pachelbel. The main characteristic of a chaconne is the consistent bass line which is present throughout the entire piece (mostly) and is decorated by different rhythmical motifs in the manuals. Pachelbel's famous Canon in D essentially uses the same framework here. You'll also notice that the melodic interest is maintained without a change of key signature!
This was recorded on the church organ of our Lady in Adergas (Velesovo, Slovenia) using the Hauptwerk VPO software.
