That's why I use linux. Less security flaws. Microsoft is just full of holes. I bought Windows business laptop recently and it's already slowed right down and getting problems, I don't know why I bothered. You shouldn't need to buy all sorts of extra security for an OS, it should be secure out of the box.

Thanks @rok-sivantek for the information we now have to be careful in keeping the account we let nobody steal

Great post man, on all levels.

I was prepping my next Digital Detox Series post and it kept making me think of you because of your travel life, serenity stuff and all that LOL, I am doing a few part series about a study done in the Moroccan desert so that made me think of you.

I refreshed my page and saw a vote and that always makes my day too.

Thanks as always.

Yeah, windows is definitely much more vulnerable, but mac users need to beware too. Good advice, especially for anyone browsing some of the shadier corners of the web

This post came at the right time that I needed it most.

A steemian I know got his account hacked three days ago and all his sbd were transferred to blocktrades. We tried guessing the loophole on how he got hacked but couldn't come to a valid conclusion.

But then, my main suspicion is that he had a trojan app, a keylogger or a clipboard stealer installed on his phone. Maybe he downloaded an app that's not from playstore and I don't think he has a good antivirus on his phone.

I'll try sending this post link to him to read and learn from it.

Also, I've learnt from it too and I'm grateful.

Thanks @rok-sivante for sharing

Happy Steeming

The Stolen SBD

shite, that's gotta hurt.

if he/you finds out any more details of whether it was malware, etc, do please report back and share here in continuation of this thread...

sorry before I really do not understand what you say ,! but I tried transiting using google translate. I try to understand the contents of your post! from what you explain that $ 35 is to facilitate us? Is that true?

get a good anti-malware program. costs $35. well-worth it. may prevent you from being hacked.

thanks a lot explanation. let me resteem your post?

no need to ask, go ahead...

Oke thanks .

I will resteem your post

thanks for the info i have now seen where loop holes may occur it's indeed very important to be ready at all times this security measures are paramount

yeah @rok-sivante truly Nuff said already. the wise will heed to it
do you recommend any good one for windows.

really not sure. I'd recommend googling something like "top windows anti-malware software," skim through the top 5-10 results, see which programs are most common amongst them all, and narrow it down from there...

Sure. Thanks as always . And keep rocking and steeming hot 😋

Terima kasih @Rok-sivante tepat waktunya anda informasikan saya

That's scary. I try to stick to more well-known sites so I don't get viruses and such. And I have paid anti-virus software installed. There are just too many people out there who are trying to get your info. It's crazy how prevalent this stuff is now. Gotta be on your toes. Good advice!

And here i am still using my good old Windows Defender. Seems that i have to upgrade my protection even though i don't go to shady or malicious sites, just the typical mails, youtube, and of course a lot of time at Steemit.

Thanks for the heads up @rok-sivante! Shall research about security programs and surely will invest on one. Have a great day and God bless! :)

Honestly, I think I need this type of antivirus or antimalware. My computer memory suddenly runs out in recent times. Maybe I have a website running a mining programme on my laptop with my ignorance. Thanks for sharing this. @rok-sivante

Where did you buy this software? I only found a $49 anti-virus from BitDefender. Do they help with keyloggers and clipboard stealers?

I cant remember if it was this one I bought or this one,

I’d imagine that keyloggers would be some sort of malware, so it should...

I think I read somewhere recently that it's estimated that there are over 3 million websites running these botnet browser hijacking types of scripts. It's a small subset of the web, but its still a damn lot of sites. Yeah, $35 is well worth it.

Holy shit!

I think about this often. I have very little money in crypto as of now, but I still think about the possibilities of someone snatching it up from me. Even with my small amount, if they did so across a large scale, it would amount to be quite the profit for them.

So that being said I have definitely been thinking about investing in some more security once the time comes. When I say "once the time comes", I simply mean that by the time I can easily pay for the security with some of my crypto earnings, that's my sign it's time to start protecting them more.

Thanks for sharing :) I also have a Mac, so I will definitely keep this program in mind(although, obviously I will do my own research)

My colleague @peterwrites woke up to discover that 44sbd had been transferred from his account to an unknown user and he had no idea about it. I think investing in this security measure is some good stuff and might benefit him. Great post here.

must be @peterwrites, which @enolife also commented about below...

Yes it's the same person. We really feel bad for him because he is a good person. He is one of the resource persons working hard for the reputation of steemit in Nigeria

Great value on your article brother! $35 is a lot cheaper than losing your entire portfolio. It provides peace of mind! #Value

Bitdefender has been a favorite of mine. It won't be bad to have it installed again to be sure we don't have a malware or keyloggers installed on our PC. The crypto world is full of a lot of malwares masquerading as normal apps or websites. Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you so much for your @OriginalWorks! 🙏🏻

Are you now doing business anti virus accessories for computer @ rok-sivante

Provision of good anti-malware softwares are sometimes good but....l fear anyway..thanks too @rok-sivante

good morning... you are right...all we need a good security... but fear always exists..! :(

Do you know this quote?

“The only truly secure system is one that is powered off, cast in a block of concrete and sealed in a lead-lined room with armed guards - and even then I have my doubts.” (Gene Spafford)

Give up and go out with your hands up, @rok-sivante: you are surrounded! ;)

Nuffield said indeed. Nice update. @rok-sivante

There's a saying about " penny wise, pound foolish ". Some people apply this, they will be wise in things of less important but won't apply such wisdom in things of importance. Imagine if you had not spent that $35.. Who knows how much you would have lost. Congratulations dear.

@arinzechukwu

Thanks for this bro!

Fear is always in the back of my mind because IT IS crypto!

Thank you for the information @rok-sivantek

Got it.. Security industry would be another opportunity for crypto invest. Thanks a lot~ @rok-sivante!

Thanks for this wonderful expository

I use the free version of avast on my windows laptop - i've often wondered whether it was worth paying for the full version - some articles I'd read online indicated that the difference might not be so vast between free and paid versions - but now I'm nervous again...

Given the cost probably isn’t that much, I’d personally go for the upgrade... might only be one little feature that’d make the difference...

I think I might switch to an overall higher rated, but paid anti-virus actually - bunch of articles seem to point to good ole norton or kapersky (spelling) - I'll look into it.

Great Article !

An anti-virus program can usually only identify known malware. In spite of all this, it is necessary to protect oneself accordingly. What's $35 if you have a multiple in crypto currencies.

However, anti-virus programs do not provide comprehensive protection. It is very important to deal with security issues in order to detect phishing attacks.
