The Gurkhas, who have a low-profile presence in Singapore, were more visible than usual at the weekend as they secured the Shangri-La Hotel for a security conference that included Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and other regional ministers.
Every year like UK and India Singapore also recruits few Nepalese youth as a part of Singaporean Police's Gurkha. The selection process of a Gurkha has been described as one of the toughest in the world and is fiercely contested. Contingent and currently there are around 1800 Gurkhas in Singaporean Police. Although the number is unclear it has been said that Gurkha Contingent will be securing the summit venue, roads and hotels.

“They are among the best Singapore can offer, and I am sure they will be involved (in the summit),” said Tim Huxley, an expert on Singapore’s armed forces at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
So Who Are Gurkhas??
"It's better to die than be a coward" is the motto of the world-famous Nepalese Gurkha soldiers who are an integral part of the British Army for 200 years.Beaten back by the Gurkhas in the 19th century Anglo-Nepalese War and admired for their valor and fighting skills, the colonial British then began to recruit them. Since then Gurkhas has fought many wars including both world wars and recently in Iraq and Afghanistan and has gained reputation of being the world's fiercest fighters.
Thank God President Trump and Marshall Kim will be safe, its hard to lose if you have the Gurkhas on your side.
