Thanks to @gtg for highlighting that a scam version of steemit exists, operated by the account @theprophet0. The website is steewit.com - apparently intended to look and act as if it is Steemit.com, but it's not..
Do NOT login to this website and always make extra sure you are using SteeMit.com and NOT SteeWit.com.
I have asked for evidence to backup the claim that this site is genuinely intended to scam people and @guiltyparties provided me with this link to a post from a Steem user who has reported logging in to SteeWit.com and then having their login used to upvote comments without their authorisation:

Owk this is coming right on time as I just heard that there is an app going round and claiming to be a steemit app which is also a phishing app.
This is just crazy. Why would people want to steal from others when they can channel that energy and enthusiasm into making great contents on steemit and getting rewarded. It's plain stupidity.
