I stopped to look on trending page, I see the same people all the time. Out of curiosity I was scrolling down to see the reputation of those great minds witch everyday make killer posts.
In the first 100 - it was 5 under reputation (60) including @berniesanders on level(-18)
I know that among those "everyday TOP 100" are many which contributed a lot to this platform but they can not live forever on the old glory.
I would like to believe that everything is possible here and that hard work will be recognized at least once in the while. Newcomers arriving on Steemit everyday and I am sure that some of them deserve to end on trending page.It is not possible that "everyday TOP 100" are that better then others.
I remember when I was just a kid and my parents was telling me you have to study to make something in your life. Even thought I live in corrupted country and many things are wrong this claim proved to be at least partially true.
The only thing I want to believe is that this rule is valid here too !
And that someday we will see someone with reputation(30) (40) on the trending page!
Well, I believe like on other social media there are people who automatically vote for each other, and promote their posts to get on trending pages. But, in order to get there every time it takes some powerful people to give some big votes. I will not say they don't deserve to be there, but I would like them to think a bit different.
Here is why? If they start spreading their power and votes on people who are small but have amazing content what will happen?
If we learned anything from the world today is that hogging the wealth will only lead to poverty and hunger, wars... I hope Steemit and whales will learn from it, and change the world and Steemit for the good of all users and people.

As long as Steemit does not change anything on their platform we will probably always see the same in the trending page, maybe small changes over time but mainly the same.
It's interesting to know, that in the top 100 just 5 with under 60 reputation are in it, makes us smaller people feel somehow unimportant. Anyways, I am here on Steemit just since a short time, but still I think Steemit need some major updates anyways. For example the flag system needs an update too. I wonder if we will see some major updates soon.

But what does a hardfork change here? I mean the platform will not change thanks to a hardfork or am I missing something? I thought a hardfork is more for changing the protocol of an blockchain?

A lot is because people with higher reputations can afford the bots to boost them into the trending page and many of them are not concerned with the quality of the posts.

I know, this is one of the reasons, there are few more, I am not going in to it now, but the picture does not look nice, and is not encouraging. Quality is another issue to discuss.
