Teungku Isaac bin Muhammad Daud or better known as Isaac David. GAM commanders Peureulak region has a high-strung posture. His face is also handsome and resembles an Indian movie star.
Isaac was born in Blang Glumpang Kuala Idie Village, Idie Rayeuk District, East Aceh on January 12, 1960. He was the first child of the couple Muhammad Daud bin Tengku Basyah and Nuriah. As a child, Isaac lives in an average village environment living below the poverty line. His father worked as a fisherman while his mother was selling cakes.
Feeling unsatisfied with the condition, in early 1984, at the age of 24, Isaac decided to migrate to Malaysia. In the neighboring country, Isaac Daud worked haphazardly, as a construction worker or a restaurant guard. Unable to survive like that in Malaysia, Isaac Daud decided to migrate to Singapore. Moreover, many people of Aceh in the land of the lion. Just like in Malaysia, Isaac Daud also worked odd jobs, from construction workers to transportation drivers. In Singapore too Isaac Daud began to recognize the Free Aceh Movement, especially at that time many activists of Aceh Merdeka held a political meeting. Practically, during his work in Singapore Ishak often attended the meeting. This is also what opened his horizons about the history of Aceh.
In June 1987, Isaac was eventually sworn in by Tengku Abdullah Musa as a GAM member. Moreover, Hasan Tiro who controls GAM from Sweden needs young Acehnese to be educated military education and sent to Libya. Isaac Daud belongs to a group of 40 Acehnese youth sent to Libya.
Coming home from Libya, Isaac Daud dropped by in Singapore. Only 12 days there, Isaac Daud decided to return to Aceh through the Port of Tanjung Balai. From there he boarded the bus and returned to his hometown of Idi Rayeuk. Initially he worked as a Fish trader and secretly recruited youth to engage GAM.
Isaac was among the first figures to raise the flag of Aceh Merdeka in SMA Idi Rayeuk, East Aceh on December 4, 1989 after the flag raising in Halimun Mountain, Pidie, by Hasan Tiro on December 4, 1976. On May 20, 1990, Ishak Daud attacked ABRI post in Buloh Blang Ara, North Aceh. In the attack, two soldiers and a junior high school student died. Isaac's group also managed to take 22 M-16s and Minimi weapons. For the act, Isaac Daud was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Lhokseumawe District Court. The trial was held in Sabang because in several previous trials, Isaac Daud was always hailed by his sympathizers. At that time, Isaac was mentioned as Head of Information Bureau of Aceh Merdeka. However, Isaac Daud had only served a two-year sentence, because during the leadership of President Abdurrahman Wahid, May 21, 2000, Isaac Daud was released. Ishak decided to re-join GAM, his last position as GAM Commander Peureulak-Teumieng Area. Isaac died in an ambush by the TNI at the end of 2003.
