Selena Gomez broke her silence about her kidney transplant.
“My kidneys were just done. That was it,” a tearful Gomez told Savannah Guthrie in a sitdown with donor Francia Raisa, set to air Monday and Tuesday on “Today.”
“I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life, and that was the day I came home and I found out. [Raisa] volunteered and did it.”
Gomez, 25, underwent the transplant in secret in May, revealing the ordeal only in September.
The “Bad Liar” singer required the operation as a result of complications from lupus, which she’s struggled with openly for years.
In October 2015, Gomez revealed that she underwent chemotherapy to treat the autoimmune disease. In August 2016, she retreated from the spotlight to go to a Tennessee rehabilitation center to treat anxiety and depression that reportedly stemmed from the condition.
When asked, Gomez acknowledged that actress Raisa, 29, saved her life.
“Because she did,” the former Disney starlet affirmed to Guthrie. “That’s it.”
