New Thoughts

This highlights the actual issue with defining notions such as love. We have seven, eight, or even a hundred things we want to say. They are all unique, but we only have one word for them. Instead of redefining love, perhaps we could invent a dozen new words. Now there's a place to jot down some new ideas.

Another technique to generate new ideas is to simply seek out new ones to replace old ones.
Then you build on the new concept to determine if it has any value for you.
Here are some fresh ideas, without any further explanation (help yourself).

  • Why do we encourage those in uniform to vote?
Maybe it's better to persuade people not to vote unless they're willing to learn about the issues first.

– Is multitasking really an indicator of productivity?
Perhaps the fact that we have to be so busy to acquire what we want indicates that our efforts are ineffective.

  • Why can't a surgeon who kills more people on the operating table be paid less?
Why not acknowledge that some doctors are better than others, have that information readily available, and pay accordingly?

  • Instead of faith, how about wonder?
Faith is simply believing something without reason.
To be in awe of the world and realize that we don't have answers or explanations for everything is to wonder.

Finally, what if our level of creativity and ability to think up new ideas isn't determined at birth? What if it's a systematic process that can be detected and replicated, even if it's not recognized by those who use it? We can all learn to think in new and inventive ways.
