What a challenging, enthusiastic, energetic, competitive, appreciative, positive, and memorable experience I had in my life during my junior year!
From the beginning of my life, I have been noticing, learning, and experiencing how technology makes the world change positively. As my dad is a software engineer and I studied information technology (IT) in middle and high school, I am determined to be a technology person. My ideas and thoughts are flowing in advancing technologies consistently. I have a great vision and passion for achieving to the highest level in the technological field and ambition of making positive changes in the world.
In 2012, one of the significant experiences had happened, which impacted me positively. During fall, one of my technology teachers informed me about the “Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition, 2012” for Software and Game design. Since I had a desire in game designing, I agreed immediately. At the same time, I preferred to a have a team to accomplish this project. As I have the leadership skills and received a leadership award in Leadership Summit, Washington, DC, I had a confident that I can lead a team successfully. Having positive attitude, I asked four of my classmates’ interests in joining in this project. Meanwhile I developed a concept to design a game on “Tsunami 2011”, where people were suffering for electricity. I decided to design a game using sustainable energy source such as water wheels to generate power for ravaged cities. This game is predicted to make awareness among people and educate them about producing electricity without damaging the environment. My team also accepted this concept.
We titled our game “ELECTRA HOPE” based on producing Green Energy using water wheels. Then, we discussed with our mentor and he showed a green signal. We named our team as “Digital Infinity” meaning reaching highest level in the digital world and established an appropriate team logo.
One of my team members and I were acquainted with Visual Studio C#, and designated as programmers, third member was as an artist, and the fourth member as a designer. Each team member recognized me as an effective team leader. I established a safe communication with each team member and arranged weekly meetings in order to establish a strong understanding of the progression of the game.
We submitted the project successfully before the deadline. After three weeks, we were informed that we won in NATIONAL SEMI-FINALS. I couldn’t believe it…. Medias like WUSA9 TV, Colesville Patch Newspaper interviewed us for how we came with that idea and succeeded. We presented our project for the FINAL ROUND in Seattle, Washington. Eventually, we won the 2nd place nationally. I am proud to say this that out of 22 teams, we were only the high school students. For leading the team, I was honored by the Maryland Governor, Microsoft Corporation, and our school. This significant success motivated me to proceed further in the technological field and bring positive changes for the world as a world-class citizen.
